im still thinking about his words, and theyve changed the weeds in the garden. im spending more time with my family and friends and less time in committee meetings. whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experience to savour, not endure. im trying to recognize these moment now and cherish them.
im not saving anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special. event such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, the first camellia blossom… i wear my good blazer to the market if i feel like it. my theory is if i look prosperous, i can shell out $28. 49 for one small bag of groceries without wincing. im not saving my good perfume for special parties s; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks have noses that function as well as my party going friends.
someday and one of these days are losing their grip on my vocabulary. if its worth seeing or hearing or doing, i want to see and hear and do it now. im not sure what my sister wouldve done had she know that she wouldnt be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted.
i think she would have called family members and a few close friends. she might have called a few former friends to apologize, and mend fences for past squabbles. i like to think she would have gone out for a chinese dinner, her favorite food. im guessing. ill never know.
its those little things left undone that would make me angry if i knew that my hours were limited. angry because i put off seeing good friends whom i was going to get in touch with someday. angry because i hadnt written certain letters that i intended to write one of these days. angry and sorry that i didnt tell my husband and daughter often enough how much i truly love them.
im trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives. and every morning when i open my eyes, i tell myself that every day, every minute, every breath truly, is... a gift from god.

Don't you worry that if you have a job where you're bringing people into another culture that you maybe ruin it or spoil the culture a little bit?
Jeff: Yeah, Todd, that's a good point, but I think it's inevitable that they're going to go anyway, so you can take them and take them on a very low impact tour, where it doesn't disturb the country so much or you can let them go with a big organization that sort of takes them through a country so it's like a zoo, where there's no interaction and they're sort of looking, looking through a window so I think if I take them it will be less destructive to the culture.
Todd: OK, well, so there are a lot of tour companies out there, so if you had a tour company what would you do differently? Like how would your tour company be different than the others?
Jeff: I think I would try to use a lot of local people in the service so instead of bringing people over with you and having them do everything, I'd sort of bring a lot amount of employees over and let the locals do everything. Let the locals guide, let the locals drive, try to include the locals as much as possible and it would be a better experience for the tourist as well.
Todd: So, I think you mentioned that you'd like to have your company for India. What is it about India? Why would you want to have a tour company there?
Jeff: Many people don't like India because it's dirty, noisy. It's smelly, hot. It's special place and I think you sort of lose a bit of your the social greed or possessional habits that you have, that you don't even notice you have them, that you acquire them when you living in the West and when you go to India they're stripped away. So I think it's just a special place and it's cheap and it's exotic and it's interesting and Indian people are beautiful people, really fun to be around.

對青少年進行“中華魂”主題教育活動，是社會、學(xué)校和家庭的共同任務(wù)。教育局和各辦事處，各學(xué)校、各社區(qū)關(guān)工委將此作為對青少年進行社會教育的基本任務(wù)；各家庭將此看作是對孩子進行道德教育的重要載體；教育局和各辦事處關(guān)工委以主要精力抓了學(xué)校、家庭、社區(qū)協(xié)調(diào)；各學(xué)校將“中華魂”主題教育活動列入重要議題，認真抓了學(xué)生讀書活動的具體落實工作；各社區(qū)關(guān)工委利用“學(xué)雷鋒、心向黨、見行動、爭當金色青少年”“道德銀行”“四點半校外教育”和“學(xué)校放假，社區(qū)開學(xué)”的平臺，認真開展了“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動，并與創(chuàng)建“三無兩有一關(guān)愛”先進社區(qū)緊密結(jié)合起來，收到了良好效果。通過“中華魂”主題教育活動的深入開展，出現(xiàn)了許多令人欣慰的現(xiàn)象：愛讀書、讀好書的人多了，學(xué)英模、爭先進的人多了，積極向上、要求進步的人多了，關(guān)心集體、助人為樂的人多了，社會正氣不斷上升，歪風(fēng)邪氣遭到唾棄。由于全社會的積極參與，使我區(qū)“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動形成了很好的氛圍。如：xx一小的王xx校長大力支持“中華魂”讀書工作，他提出“讀好書，做好人，培育好孩子”的口號，倡議家長和老師“踐行美德，認真組織，積極開展讀書活動”，該校購書量具全區(qū)各小學(xué)校第一名，參加演講孩子最多，該校三三班的平xx同學(xué)榮獲xx市特等獎，我區(qū)表彰的12名讀書好少年中該校就有兩名同學(xué)榮獲殊榮；東方三小的候xx校長，把讀書活動與教育教學(xué)緊密結(jié)合，發(fā)揮少先隊作用，發(fā)揮家長委員會作用，在全校大力宣傳“中華魂”讀書活動的意義，動員全校學(xué)生積極參與讀書，得到大家的一致響應(yīng)，該校參加讀書征文的同學(xué)最多，獲獎人數(shù)名列前茅；天津路小學(xué)的王xx校長親自抓，親自布置，把讀書活動納入德育工作考核，從管理上規(guī)范，從制度上激勵，該校的李xx同學(xué)通過讀書參加演講比賽，自身發(fā)生了很大的變化，不但是一名品學(xué)兼優(yōu)的好學(xué)生，更是孝心美德好少年，李xx的父親說：“中華魂讀書活動是可以種植正能量的善舉，孩子的心境有了超越的發(fā)展是最有價值的工作，感謝關(guān)工委的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和天小的老師。”xx一小的譚xx校長發(fā)動全校師生，創(chuàng)新開展了“弘揚美德，振興中華”活動，學(xué)校成立了以校長為第一責(zé)任人的讀書活動領(lǐng)導(dǎo)小組，全校2500名少先隊員全部參加讀書活動，還帶動全校的學(xué)生家長與孩子一起讀書，該學(xué)校學(xué)生演講、征文比賽獲獎率最高，教師榮獲輔導(dǎo)獎的比例最高；中信小學(xué)的張xx校長把實現(xiàn)中國夢教育和“中華魂”讀書相結(jié)合，積極與關(guān)工委聯(lián)系，組織師生積極踐行中華美德，開展豐富多彩的校園活動，是學(xué)生們的品質(zhì)修養(yǎng)有了很大的提升；英語學(xué)校的姚xx校長把“中華魂”讀書活動與“道德銀行”存儲活動相結(jié)合，與英語教學(xué)相結(jié)合，在全校開展了“美德在我校園，傳承從我做起”的教育活動，全校涌現(xiàn)出了一大批學(xué)雷鋒好少年和讀書小標兵；xx二小的耿xx校長把書香校園作為學(xué)校的品牌來抓，把“中華魂”讀書活動提升到建設(shè)書香校園的高度，領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的重視、教師的投入、家長的認可和學(xué)生的積極參與，確保了讀書效果明顯，該校的兩名學(xué)生榮獲區(qū)級“中華魂”讀書好少年；東升二小的毛曉娟校長大力支持讀書活動，充分發(fā)揮學(xué)生參與讀書的積極性，重點培養(yǎng)好苗子，該校的王xx同學(xué)榮獲xx區(qū)“中華魂”讀書好少年稱號；實驗小學(xué)的馬xx校長親自組織學(xué)校的演講初賽，發(fā)動教師發(fā)現(xiàn)人才、培養(yǎng)人才，積極為孩子們進行全方位的指導(dǎo)和培訓(xùn)；xx路小學(xué)的張xx校長帶頭讀書感動了全校的師生；xx實驗小學(xué)的張xx校長把“中華魂”主題教育活動與該校的“責(zé)任教育”緊密結(jié)合，在學(xué)校開展了豐富多彩的讀書活動，他們學(xué)校的宋xx同學(xué)從三年級就積極參加“中華魂”主題教育活動，通過讀書她決心當一名有奉獻精神的好孩子，她報名到洛陽博物館當上了一名小志愿者，不怕困難、風(fēng)雨無阻的到博物館為參觀者義務(wù)服務(wù)，在當志愿的三年里她受到過委屈，面對過困難，但是她都以“中華魂”讀本里先進人物的精神激勵自己，鞭策自己，成為了洛陽博物館里最漂亮、能力最強、全市第一名可以通講珍寶館文物的小志愿講解員。經(jīng)過層層選拔、比賽，宋xx同學(xué)一舉獲得了xx市“中華魂”演講決賽“十佳標兵”。在這里特別要提出表揚的是xx路小學(xué)和xx西路小學(xué)的王xx、張xx兩位校長，他們對“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動的認識很到位，參與活動的積極性很高，組織很得力，雖然他們訂書的數(shù)量不能與大學(xué)校相比，但是，按照他們學(xué)校生源的家庭條件和在校學(xué)生數(shù)量，完成讀本征訂任務(wù)的比例達到xx%。今年，這兩所學(xué)校獲得xx區(qū)“中華魂”主題教育活動優(yōu)秀組織獎是當之無愧的。
各辦事處關(guān)工委運用“學(xué)校放假，社區(qū)開學(xué)”平臺，發(fā)揮“五老”優(yōu)勢，采取各種形式，在社區(qū)開展了豐富多彩的讀書活動。長安路辦事處關(guān)工委執(zhí)行主任姚學(xué)君發(fā)揮自己是教師的特長，組織孩子們寫心得、寫演講稿、才藝表演、演講比賽，孩子們在活動中展示了才能、鍛煉了能力、收獲了成功，度過了有意義的假期。湖北辦、武漢辦、鄭州辦、徐家營積極組織孩子讀書與活動相結(jié)合，采取走進社區(qū)做好事，踐行美德育品質(zhì)的方式開展社區(qū)“中華魂”讀書活動。重慶辦、長春辦、珠江辦、南昌辦、工農(nóng)辦、周山辦、天津辦與學(xué)校結(jié)合、與轄區(qū)單位結(jié)合、與教育陣地結(jié)合組織學(xué)生進部隊、進工廠、參觀焦裕祿、楊奎烈等先進人物展覽館，把中華美德讀書與身邊的先進人物精神直觀的結(jié)合在一起，起到了很好的教育作用。
（三）讀書活動掀起
一是各小學(xué)校將《中華美德頌》讀本納入在校學(xué)生讀書計劃，并配合社區(qū)開展活動，使同學(xué)們在讀書教育的活動中學(xué)習(xí)知識、感悟真理、激發(fā)愛黨、愛國的高尚情操，增強團結(jié)向上的意識，弘揚拼搏奮斗的精神，樹立為國家振興而努力奮斗的遠大理想。二是組織在校學(xué)生除完成讀本學(xué)習(xí)內(nèi)容外，積極參加班級讀書演講、年級讀書演講、學(xué)校讀書演講比賽活動，逐級選拔出參加全區(qū)讀書演講大賽的選手。三是在校學(xué)生積極參加撰寫“中華魂”讀書征文活動，展示學(xué)生和學(xué)校的讀書成果。四是通過學(xué)生讀書互動形式，陶冶情操、磨練意志、啟迪智慧、提升素養(yǎng)、修煉志趣。從而引導(dǎo)同學(xué)們牢記黨的重托、牢記人民的期望，成長為中國特色社會主義的合格接班人。五是全區(qū)“五老”隊伍人員結(jié)合下基層、下社區(qū)、下學(xué)校，積極配合、督察檢查各學(xué)校、各社區(qū)的“中華魂”讀書活動。利用講座、社會實踐等方式，結(jié)合自己的親身經(jīng)歷，講改革開放取得的偉大成就，為孩子們搭建社會實踐的平臺，積極帶領(lǐng)學(xué)生在實踐中體會樹立遠大理想的重要性，使廣大青少年樹立了正確人生觀和價值觀。
同志們：“中華魂”主題教育活動，是由中關(guān)工委和教育部關(guān)工委共同發(fā)起和開展的，以青少年思想道德建設(shè)為主線，每年都有一個緊扣時代脈搏的主題，并編寫了具有鮮明思想性的活動用書，非常適合青少年的特點。我區(qū)開展讀書活動20年的實踐，已經(jīng)牢固搭建起了“老少共讀一本書”的教育平臺，使“一老一少”在讀書中實現(xiàn)雙受益、雙提高、雙發(fā)展，受到了社會各界的歡迎和認同，得到了區(qū)委、區(qū)政府的肯定和支持。我們深深體會到：緊扣時代主題，堅持讀書育人，是推動“中華魂”主題教育活動健康持續(xù)發(fā)展的根本；黨委政府高度重視，關(guān)工委精心組織，有關(guān)部門團結(jié)協(xié)作，是“中華魂”主題教育活動做實做好的保證；求真務(wù)實，創(chuàng)新方法，貼近青少年，是“中華魂”主題教育活動取得實效的關(guān)鍵；充分發(fā)揮關(guān)工委、老同志的優(yōu)勢和作用，是提高“中華魂”主題教育活動質(zhì)量的基礎(chǔ)。
目前，我區(qū)“中華魂”主題教育活動，雖然取得了一定成績，積累了一些經(jīng)驗，但和全市其他先進縣區(qū)相比，還有不少的差距。就我區(qū)來講，活動開展的還不夠平衡，覆蓋面還不夠廣泛等等。希望通過今天的會議，同志們進一步提高認識，總結(jié)經(jīng)驗，鞏固成績，解決難題，使全區(qū)的“中華魂”主題教育活動取得更大成績。
二、XX年我區(qū)“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動的基本要求
根據(jù)中國關(guān)工委、教育部關(guān)工委《關(guān)于XX年開展全國青少年“中華魂”（放飛夢想）主題教育活動的通知》（中關(guān)工委〔XX〕18號文件）的要求，今年的內(nèi)容是“放飛夢想”。各級關(guān)工委要進一步提高認識，突出“中國夢”這一主題，發(fā)揮“五老”優(yōu)勢，創(chuàng)新工作思路，拓寬活動載體，堅持典型示范，加強組織領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，推動“中華魂”主題教育活動向縱深發(fā)展，把這項活動打造成引導(dǎo)青少年健康成長的知名品牌，成為青少年進行社會主義核心價值觀教育的有效載體。
社會主義核心價值體系教育是愛國主義教育的核心，是“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動的“魂”，是青少年思想道德建設(shè)的“根”。我們要牢牢抓住這個“魂”和“根”，把握方向，創(chuàng)新載體。按照中央的部署和省市關(guān)工委的要求，把我區(qū)今年“中華魂”（放飛夢想）主題教育讀書活動抓出成效。
（一）提高認識，積極工作
1、各級關(guān)工委都要站在講政治的高度，進一步提高對開展“中華魂”主題教育活動重要意義的認識。緊緊抓住“中國夢”這一主題，充分發(fā)揮“五老”的獨特優(yōu)勢，通過“老少共讀一本書”、“老少共話中國夢”等形式，舉辦主題報告會、師生座談會、雙語演講競賽，幫助廣大青少年深刻理解和準確把握中國夢的重要內(nèi)涵，在青少年中播種夢想、點燃夢想，引導(dǎo)青少年敢于有夢、勇于追夢、勤于圓夢，把實現(xiàn)中國夢的滿腔熱情轉(zhuǎn)化為刻苦學(xué)習(xí)、勤奮工作、報效祖國的實際行動。通過在全區(qū)開展“中華魂”讀書征文和演講競賽活動，建立“中華魂”讀書活動激勵機制，形成學(xué)校、家庭、社會“三位一體”相互聯(lián)動的讀書熱潮，匯集澗西區(qū)“中華魂”讀書活動成果，總結(jié)提升讀書活動效能，促進全區(qū)性“中華魂”讀書活動廣泛深入持久地開展，增強青少年為實現(xiàn)偉大的中國夢而努力學(xué)習(xí)、奮力拼搏的高尚情操，為培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀積極工作，為我國社會主義現(xiàn)代化建設(shè)做出應(yīng)有的貢獻。
2、使命和責(zé)任需要讀書。青少年強則國強。青少年如何才能強？讀書、學(xué)文化、學(xué)知識，才能使自己強起來，才能更好地服務(wù)社會、報效祖國。在全社會，特別是在青少年中營造努力讀書的氛圍，是進一步加強和改進青少年思想道德建設(shè)，培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀，提高全民族文化素質(zhì)的迫切要求。
3、形勢和任務(wù)要求讀書。改革開放以來，面對西方敵對勢力加緊對我國實行西化、分化、和平演變的圖謀，面對經(jīng)濟體制深刻變革、社會結(jié)構(gòu)深刻變動、利益格局深刻調(diào)整、思想觀念深刻變化給青少年德育教育工作帶來的挑戰(zhàn)，進一步研究探索、加強培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀教育勢在必行。價值觀教育的基礎(chǔ)是讀書，是明理，是勵志，是修身。只有讀書，才能明理，只有勵志，才能修身，所以，我們必須從娃娃抓起，從讀書抓起。
4、下大力抓好青少年讀書活動。“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動，必須采取學(xué)校、家庭和社區(qū)相結(jié)合的方式組織學(xué)生開展讀書活動。通過讀書、征文、演講、歌詠、參觀和社會實踐等一系列豐富多彩的活動，唱響主旋律，有機地將主題教育讀書活動融入培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀教育工作的整體布局，適時、適宜的與精神文明教育結(jié)合起來，與和諧社會建設(shè)結(jié)合起來，與學(xué)校等部門的德育工作結(jié)合起來，與學(xué)科教學(xué)工作結(jié)合起來，與少先隊、共青團工作結(jié)合起來，與培養(yǎng)青少年的創(chuàng)新與實踐能力結(jié)合起來。使青少年寓教于讀、寓教于學(xué)、寓教于行、寓教于樂；使主題教育更加貼近時代脈搏，貼近青少年的思想、生活和實際，推動讀書活動向縱深發(fā)展。因此，必須下大力抓好“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動，并將此打造成為引導(dǎo)青少年健康成長的有效載體。
（二）加強領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，積極組織
無論做什么事，重要在認識，關(guān)鍵在領(lǐng)導(dǎo)。各級領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和關(guān)工委一定要高度重視“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動，切實加強組織領(lǐng)導(dǎo)。一是認真落實區(qū)關(guān)工委、文明辦、教育局聯(lián)合下發(fā)的《關(guān)于在全區(qū)青少年中深入開展“中華魂”主題教育（放飛夢想）讀書活動的安排意見》（x關(guān)工XX【3】號），結(jié)合實際搞好讀書活動的組織計劃。做到層層有安排，工作有計劃，事事有落實。二是解決好小學(xué)生讀本問題。以教育局為主，制定出小學(xué)生讀書活動讀本征訂保障計劃。全區(qū)各成員單位都要獻出一份愛心，為孩子們積極捐贈讀本，是更多的孩子有書讀。三是堅持以學(xué)校為主，社區(qū)、家庭聯(lián)動配合，落實讀書活動的人員、時間、內(nèi)容和效果。四是繼續(xù)抓好、抓實讀書演講和征文比賽活動。五是各辦事處、社區(qū)，教育局、學(xué)校關(guān)工委要以此為契機，以主題教育活動為載體，充分發(fā)揮老同志的獨特優(yōu)勢，配合學(xué)校深入開展各類教育活動。通過活動，培育青少年社會主義核心價值觀，幫助青少年踐行社會主義核心價值觀，讓他們具有振興中華的精神支柱和精神動力，只有在全社會形成培育和踐行社會主義核心價值觀的氛圍，引導(dǎo)青少年樹立正確的世界觀、人生觀、價值觀、榮辱觀和崇高的社會責(zé)任感，時刻準備承擔(dān)實現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復(fù)興的歷史使命，才能推進中國特色社會主義事業(yè)不斷前進，實現(xiàn)偉大的中國夢。
（三）總結(jié)經(jīng)驗，創(chuàng)新實踐
“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動，是關(guān)心下一代工作的重要內(nèi)容。因此，要不斷總結(jié)經(jīng)驗，不斷改進方法，不斷提升讀書活動效果。今年，洛陽新東方學(xué)校為澗西區(qū)的孩子們奉獻愛心，他們不但為孩子們捐贈購書善款，還將派出志愿者老師，把《放飛夢想》讀本的部分篇章翻譯成英文，深入到全區(qū)各個學(xué)校為孩子們進行“中華魂”（放飛夢想）英語演講培訓(xùn)和中英文征文寫作培訓(xùn)。用中英雙語歌頌實現(xiàn)中國夢的偉大理想，不但能增強孩子們的自信心，更是為孩子們提供了提高學(xué)習(xí)英語興趣的平臺，在全市我們的作法是一個創(chuàng)新。今年，我們將進行“中華魂”雙語演講和征文大賽，評選出100名雙語演講決賽選手。在“中華魂”雙語讀書活動工作中，我們要求：一是強調(diào)教育局要及時布置教育局關(guān)工委搞好系統(tǒng)組織、系統(tǒng)協(xié)調(diào)、系統(tǒng)聯(lián)動和系統(tǒng)落實工作。督促學(xué)校做好讀本征訂工作，按照要求完成任務(wù)。二是強調(diào)學(xué)校在雙語讀書演講征文培訓(xùn)工作中，學(xué)校關(guān)工委主任（校長）和主抓關(guān)工委工作的副校長、關(guān)工委副主任（即少先大隊輔導(dǎo)員）要切實負起責(zé)任，與新東方學(xué)校派出的志愿者老師密切配合，協(xié)調(diào)好時間安排、學(xué)生組織和學(xué)校的初賽工作，推薦選拔更多的學(xué)生參加初賽和復(fù)賽。三是強調(diào)學(xué)校、家庭和社區(qū)聯(lián)學(xué)聯(lián)動。學(xué)生的讀書活動不僅是學(xué)校的事，而且是社區(qū)和家庭的事；不僅是學(xué)生自己的事，而且是全社會的事。必須搞好三方聯(lián)動，必須加強協(xié)調(diào)和指導(dǎo)。各級關(guān)工委要將學(xué)生讀書活動作為關(guān)心下一代工作的重點，作為重要工作之一，作為校內(nèi)教育和校外教育的共同任務(wù)。四是強調(diào)“五個結(jié)合”，體現(xiàn)“五個作用”。即：把讀書活動和黨領(lǐng)導(dǎo)社會建設(shè)所取得的偉大成就結(jié)合起來，發(fā)揮社會對比和社會巨變的育人作用；把讀書活動和“學(xué)雷鋒”活動結(jié)合起來，發(fā)揮學(xué)校德育教育主渠道的育人作用；把讀書活動和青少年喜聞樂見的形式結(jié)合起來，發(fā)揮課外教育的育人作用；把讀書活動和“學(xué)雷鋒”實踐結(jié)合起來，發(fā)揮學(xué)生從我做起的育人作用；把學(xué)和用結(jié)合起來，發(fā)揮“道德銀行”存儲活動的育人作用。五是強調(diào)學(xué)生讀書活動實現(xiàn)“六個促進”，使“中華魂”主題教育讀書活動促進創(chuàng)建“三無兩有一關(guān)愛”先進社區(qū)建設(shè)；促進“學(xué)雷鋒、心向黨、見行動、爭當金色青少年”活動的深入開展；促進預(yù)防和減少青少年犯罪；促進校外教育的各類社會活動，促進“道德銀行”存儲活動的開展；促進青少年良好習(xí)慣的養(yǎng)成。
（四）樹立榜樣，典型引路。
要結(jié)合“中華魂”（放飛夢想）主題教育讀書活動，積極發(fā)現(xiàn)、培育、樹立、推廣先進典型。要擴大對多讀多思、以讀促教活動中取得明顯成績的老師、輔導(dǎo)員、學(xué)生進行表彰獎勵。充分發(fā)揮典型的示范、帶動作用，促進讀書活動的深入、持久、健康開展。一是各級關(guān)工委要確立抓典型的意識。要注意發(fā)現(xiàn)典型、培育典型，做好典型引路。二是要有抓典型的方法。依照各自所管轄的范圍，做到班有班的典型，年級有年級的典型，學(xué)校有學(xué)校的典型，社區(qū)有典型，教育局和鄉(xiāng)、辦事處都有自己的典型。三是要及時樹立先進典型。樹立先進典型要注意及時、適當、準確。今年，區(qū)關(guān)工委要結(jié)合工作情況，大力表彰一批先進單位和先進個人，以更好地推動各項工作的順利開展。
